Fête des Vins de Violès Sunday 19 July 2015

This fête always takes place on the 3rd Sunday of July. This year it's the 33
rd.
In 2015 it's 10 years since the appellation Cotes du Rhone Village Plan de Dieu was created. Violès is together with three other villages Jonquières, Travaillan and Camaret-sur-Aigues. Violès is the most important village of this appellation and at this fête only producers from Violès or situated near Violès are participating.
As it takes place on a Sunday afternoon you will be together with a lot of local visitors who kiss a lot and make fun with their friends from the village.
You might not find that the wines are the most important part of the event. There are just as many stands selling vegetables, sausages, fruit, cheese or other local products than you will find winegrowers pour wines.
At the end of the street with winegrowers you find these old tractors lined up, and there is a place with amusements for the children. During the street you will see / hear some small ba
nds playing different types of rythmic music.
At the entrance you pay 3€ for a glass and the tastings through the street are free.
The tasting starts at 10.00 and at 11.00 a procession will walk through the main streets. Below some photos to give an impression of the events during the day.
About 15 local winegrower's  wines were for tasting but as not all wines were especially exiting and as the wine grower himself were not present there will not be so many photos from this part of the event.

The front of the prosession
.

Probably most of the people in the prosession are not local but payed to come?
.

I think that these dancers also were at Fête du Vin i Vacqueyras
.

These mature women are probably local. Note the handbags
.

A line of old tractors was also in the prosession

The street with winetasting and other things was crowded

The most handsome boy serving wine,
Sébastien Latour Domaine de la Damase
.

It would be unfair to point at the most kind and nice girl serving wines.
One obvious candidate is Aurelie Meffre, Domaine Bois des Dames
I tasted for the first time Domaine de Valori Chateauneuf du Pape

Another just as kind and nice girl is Céline Barbaud fom Domaine des Favard
