Nicole and Jean-François Trontin (Trontin has earned the money in the cement industry) bought the property in May 2016, and has employed the oenologist Jean-François Farinet as general director and responsible for wine making.
Trontin and Farinet
has relations in Northern Rhône. There was also a bottle of Cornas for tasting on the domain, and it is allegedly in the cards that there may emerge a form of negociant business, which broadly includes wines from Northern Rhone and maybe elsewhere.
The former owner Vincent Moreau established the domain around 2003. He also arrived with "capital from home" and built the very spectacular but beautiful buildings along the road between Cairanne and Rasteau - many good domains
along this road but not known for architectural highlights. Even the buildings at that time signalized a big wine cellar this was not the case. Wines were vinified and aged
in a cellar that had belonged to legendary Domaine Rocher
n this context, it is not surprising that the new owner has decided to build his own, probably up-to-date
wine cellar. In July 2018 the construction of a big building was in progress and might be finished ready for harvest of 2019.
On my question, if the finished basement
would not spoil the view of the central buildings, Andréa Dufour reassured me that it would not be the case at all.
Quote from the domain's website: "In order to obtain wines that retain the natural power of the Grenache but which win vintage after vintage, finesse and elegance, we have set up an ambitious program of restructuring in the vineyard."
