Romain Roches' father Marcel Roche owned
30 ha of vineyards in Cairanne. He was until 2005 the president of the
co-operative and of course he delivered the grapes there.
The young Romain wanted to have an education so that he could make the
wines himself. At first he got a BTS from the wine school in Beaune,
then some commercial education and finished with a full oenological
education from the university in Toulouse.
As a part of his training he went to USA and Australia. He worked for a
Chateau Paradis in Provence and here he met Philippe Cambie who he uses as an
Since 2009 Marcel Roche rented 15 ha to his son, and Romain made his first
wine this vintage. The vines have an average
age of 50 years. A single parcel is 120 years old.
In 2014 Romain's father wanted to retire, but Romain was not interested
to have a domain of more than 25 ha of the vineyards and therefore the
rest was sold.
In 2018 20 ha are in production when 5 ha are during replanting.
In 2014-2015 Romain built a new cellar near the house of his parants
ready for the harvest of 2015.
2016: 70% Grenache and 30% Syrah.
