In 1984
Hubert Combe bought Domaine du Parc Saint-Charles a domain of 100 ha.
In 1990 Hubert suddenly died and his three cildrens took over the domain. At that time a wine shop was established in Avignon, "La Cave Saint-Charles".
The daughter Marie-Laure runs this shop and her brothers, Florent and Benoît Combe run the domain.
The name "Parc Saint Charles" is from the time of Louis 15th when the place was a barracks for a regiment of artillery Parc d'artillerie led by the lord of Montfrin, Charles de Monteynard.
Where you find the vineyards today the regiment carried on firing and maneuvering.

*) Jean-Baptiste Poquelin and Madeleine Béjart
Once upon a time the king Louis 13th visited Montfrin with a large following among
whom was a young man, Jean-Baptiste Poquelin. He had a secret dream about being an actor. In a theater company that would perform for the king, there was a wonderful young actress Madeleine Béjart. Jean Baptiste was deeply impressed when he saw her, but he had not the courage to approach her - before he got some red wine originated from a hill near Montfrin called Molière.
Well, Jean-Baptiste became not only an actor but also a very famous playwright known with the artist name Molière
