In the 1920's a pharmacist from Avignon Fernand Serre purchased some vineyards to the south of Chateauneuf du Pape in the area where a lieu-dit Les Serres was named like himself. He built cellars in the fields and a new domain was born "Domaine Saint Préfert". After him other generations at first Carnille and then Suzanne Serre took over.

In 2002 Isabel Ferrando, formerly a banker, purchased the domain covering 13.2 ha. of Chateauneuf du Pape. The vines are very old, some of them more than 100 years. Some plots at the estate had to be replanted.

Isabel Ferrando had from the start in 2002 until 2010 got advice from Philippe Cambi. Together they started a kind of revolution for the domain. Since vintage 2003 the wines have been recognized to be among the best of the appellation.
2013 the vineyards have been certified agriculture biologique.
