Olivier Chanabis' family have been winegrowers for several
generations.
In 1850 Louis Chabanis planted vines in Alba-la-Romaine in Ardèche at a place
called Montagut. In 1945 his grandchild Joseph Chabanis planted more vines at the land
of his grandfather's (Luas) property. In 1985 the next generation John and Andrew
bought vineyards in Drôme in an area named Bruyères.
You will find these places used as cuvée names by the owner today.
Before
Olivier Chanabis went home to take over the family property was a quality
manager in food industry. Before the take over in 2000 he joined the basic
wine cources at the wine university of Suze-la-Rousse.
The name of the domain covering 22 ha does not refer to the name
of a woman but to the stone agate.
