Remains show that buildings have been situated at the place since 11th century. Written sources tell about sale of wines from the property in 1562.
Around 1780 the estate was owned by a noble man Légier Monfort. In the 1780-ties he broke down the buildings ecxept for an old tower and built the buildings as you see them today. He reused the stones from the old buildings. In the following centuries the place was owned by several different owners not all of them especially interested in wine growing. Nearly all the production were sold to to negociants.

In 2007 Pierre Deltin from Marseilles purchased the place. He's a pharmacist in Marseilles and owns here some laboratories and pharmacies.
Deltin's daughter Aude Deltin is educated as a journalist and has worked  as so by a television company in Paris. When her father bought Chateau Milijay she decided to leave her job as a journalist to be the manager of Chateau Milijay.

The estate covers 130 ha of vineyards situated in Jonquières. There should be plans concerning a purchase of 40 ha of Cotes du Rhone Village Plan de Dieu. Wines are now bottled at the place and marketed from af bigger part of the production and visitors are welcome to taste and buy the wines.
