Domaine de la Janasse

In 1967 Isabelle and Christophe Sabons' parents Hèléne and Aimé Sabon took over vineyards from their two families. In 1973 they built cellars and created Domaine de la Janasse - named after lieu-dit La Janasse. 
In 1991 the son Christophe returned to the domain having finished his education BTS in both oenologi and marketing. His father then gave him responsibility for the winemaking. In 2001 the daughter Isabelle joined the family after finishing her oenological education.

Wines 

Chateauneuf du Pape Tradition
65% Grenache, 20% Syrah, 10% Mourvedre and 5% Cinsault.
80% matured in tank and 20% in barriques (1/3 new) for 12 months. 

Chateauneuf du Pape Chaupouin
100% Grenache from 7 ha at Chapouin, La Janasse and La Crau. Oldest vines planted in 1912. 2/3 aged in foudres, the rest in demi-muids.

Chateauneuf du Pape Veilles Vignes
64% Grenache, 20% Mourvedre, 10% Syrah and 6% other varieties.
The vines for this cuvée comes from 6 ha. 40% planted in 1920, 40% in 1965, 10% in 1976 and 10% in 1993.
75% aged in foudres and the rest in demi-muids.   

Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc Tradition
60% Grenache Blanc, 20% Clairette and 20% Roussanne. From 1.1 ha at La Janasse and La Crau.
Roussanne fermented and aged in barriques (80% new) for 7 months.

Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc Prestige
70% Roussanne, 15% Grenache Blanc (60-years+) 15% Clairette (60-years+) 0,4 ha at La Janasse.
Fermented and aged in 1-3-years old barriques for 14 months   

Cotes du Rhone Villages Terre d’Argile
25% Grenache, 25% Syrah, 25% Mourvedre and 25% Carignan. Grenache aged in foudres, the rest in barriques (1/3 new) for 12 months.

Cotes du Rhone Les Garrigues
100-years-old Grenache from 2,5 ha.   

Cotes du Rhone
40% Grenache, 20% Mourvedre, 20% Carignan (60 years+) 15% Syrah. 5% Cinsault. From a single plot of 23 ha. Aged in concrete or foudres for 6-9 months.

Cotes du Rhone Rosé
50% Grenache, 30% Cinsault, 10% Syrah and 10% Counoise. Saignée

Cotes du Rhone Blanc
50% Grenache Blanc, 15% Clairette, 15% Bourboulenc, 10% Viognier, 10% Roussanne. 

IGP Orange Terre de Bussière
55% Merlot, 25% Syrah, 10% Cabernet and 10% Grenache. Aged in barriques (20% new) for 12 months.

IGP Orange Rosé
70% Grenache and 30% Syrah. Saignée and direct press.

IGP Orange Blanc Viognier
40% aged in barriques (25% new).
