Marie-Pierre
d'Ardhuy-Plumet comes from Burgundy, where her father Gabriel d'Ardhuy
owned Domaine d'Ardhuy. Since
only two of his seven daughters wanted to become vintners, he bought in
1981 a property in Rhone, the current Domaine de Cabotte. The
daughter Mireille got the property in Burgundy, while the vineyards in
Uchaux was handed over to Marie-Pierre, who in 1986 married Erik Plumet. The couple have since then ran the property together.
Domaine
de Cabotte covers a total of 45 ha of which 15 ha are
covered by forest and 30 ha are
vineyards, located on the slopes of the plateau Massif d'Uchaux
and assembled in one piece.
From
the highest parts of the vineyards Cotes du Rhone Village Massif d'Uchaux
are made and from the vineyards by the foot of the plateau Cotes du Rhone
are made. The
vineyards have always since Marie-Pierre d'Ardhuy-Plumet took over
been cultivated by organic principles and since 2007 they have been been certified biodynamic.
In
2005 they bought a plot of 0.7 ha in Chateauneuf du Pape planted with at
least 70-years-old Grenache vines in mixed planting with other varieties. The
soil here is processed by horse and plow.
