The name Shehelin comes from Fritz
Stehelin, a German/Schwiss buziness man who in 1840
moved to Bedarrides and settled at Chateau Mont
Thabor.
He became the forefather of the winegrowers in Rhone with
the name Stehelin.
Domaine Palliere & Pied-Gú beloged to the Leydier family since 1620.
In 1978 Nicole (Born Leydeir) and her husbond Frédéric Stehelin took
over the domain, today covering 29 ha.
Since 2004 Bertrand Stehelin has made wine with his own name from 3
ha of Gigondas, 1,3 ha of Sablet and 2,5 ha of IGP in Sablet.
Bertrand's wines are made in his father's cellar, and the
two domains will in a way merge although there will be two labels
- from Domaine Bertrand and from Domaine Pallière et Pied-Gu.
Since 2009 Chateauneuf du Pape from has Bertrand's name on the label.
In 2018 Betrand and his sister Caroline became co-owners of Domaine
Pallière et Pied Gu.
