The forefather of Jean Paul Daumen acquired the
domain in 1905. The production was then sold to negociants. From the 60ties a
small amount was bottled mostly for the family and friends. Jean Paul´s father
Maxime Daumen built cellars with new foudres to make and bottle more wine. Jean
Paul has since 1991 continued the development at the domain, so today it's regarded as
one of the best in the appellation.
The domain covers 10 ha of Chateauneuf du Pape, 5ha of
Cotes du Rhone and 5 ha. of IGP.
The vineyards of Cotes du Rhone are situated just outside the border of AOC
Chateauneuf du Pape - as well as the domain itself.
The vineyards are certified as agriculture bio dynamique.
The vines have an average age of 60 years. The yield is kept
below 20 hl/ha. All grapes are destalked. The red wines are aged in foudres.
Since 2001 a Chateauneuf du Pape Réservé has been made in good vintages..
Until 2009 only one other cuvée of Chateauneuf du Pape, but since 2010
two cuvées are made Trois Sources and les
Hauts-Lieu.
