The Biscarrat family have been wine growers in the area for 6 generations.
Marie and Julien Biscarrat (sister and brother) took over at the domain in 2005 and changed the name
from Domaine du Calongues to Domaine de l'Arnesque, named after the vineyards in
Chateauneuf du Pape, situated at lieu-dit Arnesque. Until the take over Domaine
Calonges had been run by the two brothers Laurent (Julien's father) and Vincent
Biscarrat. Julien Biscarrat has left the partnership and
then it's Marie and her husband who run the domain.
The domain 32 ha of vineyards, 1,85 ha of Chateauneuf du Pape,
5,3 ha of Cairanne (bought in 2014), 12,1
ha of Cotes du Rhone Village Plan de Dieu, 9,3 ha of Cotes du
Rhone and 3,2 ha of IGP.
Wines from around 30% of the production are bottled at the domain
The vineyards of Chateauneuf du Pape is located at the west hill-side of the
Mont Redon plateau. The other vineyards are situated in Orange, Cairanne, Camaret
and Travaillan.
The wines:
Chateauneuf du Pape
2011: 80% Grenache, 10% Syrah and 10% Mourvedre.
28 days of maceration. Aged in barrels for 12 months. For sale
after 5 years.
Cotes du Rhone Village Plan de Dieu
2012: 65% Grenache, 20% Syrah, 10% Mourvedre and 5% Carignan
Matured in cement tank or demi-muids for 12 months.
Cotes du Rhone
2014: 80% Grenache and 20% Syrah. Matured in cement tank.
Cotes du Rhone Blanc
2014: 70% Roussanne and 30% Grenache Blanc.
