In 1936 Julien Masquin's grandfather
purchased vineyards in Courthezon but rented them to other
winegrowers because he was occupied by starting a brush factory
in Couthezon.
Julien's father was more interested in the factory than in
winemaking.
Julien Masquin wanted to become a winegrower and he attended the wine school in
Avignon.
After having finished his studies the contract with the
winegrowers were denounced and in 1998 Julien started running
the vineyards himself and the company Domaine Julien Masquin was
founded.
The wines were made in the cellars of Laurent Brotte until a
new cellar were buillt at
Chemen des Sourcieres.
The domain covers 23,75 of vineyards of which 7,8 ha is
Chateauneuf du Pape and the rest is Cotes du Rhone or IGP.
