In 1936 Julien Masquin's grandfather purchased vineyards in Courthezon but rented it to other winegrowers because he was occupied by starting a brush factory in Coutheszon http://www.masquin-mascotte.com/. Julien's father was more interested in the factory than in winemaking.
Julien Masquin wanted to become a winegrower and he attended the wine school in Avignon. As a part of his studies he was a trainee at Vieux Télégraphe.
After having finished his studies the contract with the winegrowers were denounced and in 1998 Julien started running the vineyards himself and the company Domaine Julien Masquin was founded.
For 6 years Julien was concentrating on running his vineyards but when his father got health problems he had to help him running the factory. He is now the director of the factory while his father is the president.
Until 2008 the grapes were sold to the cooperative but since 2009 Julien Masquin made and bottled wines with his own name.
The wines were made in the cellars of Laurent Brotte until a new cellar were buillt at
Chemen des Sourcieres.

The domain covers 23,75 of vineyards of which 7,8 ha is Chateauneuf du Pape and the rest is Cotes du Rhone or IGP.
