The Mayard family has been winegrowers for 5 generations.
Clos du Calvaire was founded by the grandparents of the owners today Marie Louise and Alphonse Mayard who were pioneers of sales in bottle. Their sales register (dated 1923) shows a large commercial activity.
Until 2022 the domain was run by the two sisters Béatrice Mayard and Françoise Roumieux-Mayard - by the name Vignobles Mayard
In 2022 the vineyards were split and Françoise make her own wines by the name Clos du Calvaire
A complete renovation of all parts of the cellar has took place in 2010-2011.

Vignobles Mayards The original cellars of Vignobles Mayard are situated by D17 (Chateauneuf du Pape - Sorgues) 3,6 km from Chateauneuf du Pape where Route de Sorgues has become Route de Chateauneuf du Pape Sorgues. I 2010-2011 a total renovation of the cellar toke place. At the photo to the left the original cellar. Here is reception af the grapes (photo to the left below). The building to the right is new and here is stokage for the wines. The vinification and ageing of the wines take place in underground cellars under and between these buildings.
