Before the French revolution a Revoltier was fief at Fargueirol, with the right to bear a sword. After the revolution the family had to move to Courthezon and nearly 200 years passed on before the family was back. In 1974 Joseph Revoltier bought the property including 10 hectares of neglected vineyards.
Since then the area of vineyards has increased in to 30 ha of Chateauneuf du Pape and 9,5 ha. of Cotes du Rhone.
Today Joseph´s son Pierre Revoltier is running the domain. He and his son Roman
are according to the domain's website the 6^th and 7^th generation at the place.
The Revoltier family lives in Chateauneuf du Pape when the domain are situated at lieu-dit Fargueirol. "Fargueirol has always been a strategic location due to its height. During restauration of the vineyards, Joseph Revoltier discovered Roman remains and tools dating from prehistoric times."
