The
property is located in Hameau Saint André des Ramieres on a site, where
from the 10th to the 16th century was a convent that belonged to
different orders. The
buildings were burned down by Huguenots during the religious wars. The
property belonged to the church until the French Revolution, when it was
sold to private ownership. The
site was bought by Françoise Rey's grandfather in the 1930s. Françoise Rey took over the estate after his father Gabriel
Rey in 1994.
The estate covers about 150 ha
of vineyards including
approximately 100 ha of
Gigondas.
The rest is situated
in Chateauneuf du Pape, Vacqueyras,
Rasteau, Ventoux or
Cotes du Rhone.
The wines have always been made in
the domain's own cellars, but periodically
the whole production is sold in
tank, which seams
to be the case just now.
This is the oldest excisting part of the monastry.
In 1770-erne it served a home for a retired bishop from Orange.
