Pierre Varenne inherited the vineyards of Gigondas from his parents in 1974 and his wife Marie-Claude inherited the vineyards of Sablet.
In 1993 they left the cooperative and started to make and bottle wines at the domain 
Since 2001 his daughter Cécile who is an educated oenolog has assisted her parents by the wine making and since 2005 she has had the responsability for the winemaking
Cécile is married to Jean-Yves Perez, Domaine de l'Obrieu in Visan. and the couple 
 
The domain covers 8 ha. 4 ha. in Gigondas with rather old vines, a bit less than 3 ha. in Sablet, 0,5 ha. in Vacqueyras and a parcel in Seguret with 15 years old Grenache.
Since 2012 the vineyards have been certified agriculture biologique.
