Chateau Mourgues du
Gres
Before the French Revolution the fields belonged to the Convent of the Ursulines of Beaucaire - a religious school. The name "Morgues" is a religious word ( in Provençal ) referring to this former ownership. Gres means in French sandstone. In the courtyard, the sundial bears the motto "SINE SOLE NIHIL" - nothing without sun. It's shown at the labels of the best red and rosé wines. In 1990
François Collard returned to his family's domain after having finished his
agricultural and oenologic
studies and after getting some practical experience at Chateau Lafite-Rothschild
in Médoc. In 1995 his wife Anne joined
him and has helped him marketing the wines.
