In 1925 the grandfather of the owner today Robert Servan-Schreiber
bought Chateau Montfrin.
Servan-Schreiber's daughter Marie Claire was for some years
married to Jacques Claret de Fleurieu, and after his early death
she married the well known politician Pierre Mendes
France who thus became the stepfather of Jean René de Fleurieu.
Marie Claire died in 2004, and since then Jean
René de Fleurieu has been
the owner of the estate. Together
with the fashion designer Agnes
b. (Agnès Andrée Marguerite Troublé) Jen-René has a daughter
Aurore Claret de Fleurieu. She is
the co-responsable for the compagny
In 2011 Jean René de
Fleurieu bought Domaine des Captives in Meynes,
where wines from 70 ha of Chateau Montfrin (Cotes du Rhone) and Domaine
des Captives (Costières des Nîmes) are vinified and you can buy
the wines and the oils here
The vineyards of both domaine are certified agriculture
biologique since 2013.
Since 1995 150.000
olive trees have been planted at the land of Chateau Montfrins.
An oil mill Les Moulin des Ombres
has been built. The plantation of the olive trees has been done
in a way so the harvesting of the olives can be done by machine.
