The grandparents of the owner today were both born by wine growers. When
they married in 1942 some fields of the two families were brought together and a
new domain was born, Trapadis. The name Trapadis is derived from the word "Trapalas"
which means "cave" in Provençal,.
The mother of Helen Durand (born Charavin) married Robert Durand. When they ran
the domain the yield was sold in bulk to merchants. In 1990 the 16 years
old Helen Durand started to bottle some wine and started an oenologic education. In 1996
he became responsible for the domain.
In 2016-2017 a new cellar was built just behind the old cellar.
Today the domain covers 32 ha. of which 24 ha in
Rasteau, 3,5 ha in Cairanne and some ha in Roaix from where the grapes were delivered to the
cooperative until 2012.
The vines have an average age of 35 years but
some of them are planted in 1922.
Since 2010 the vineyards have been certified agriculture biologique and
later also biodynamique.
