Turist i Tavel
The communes logo. The yellow color is for sandy soil.
"pierres" is the name used for the flat limestones typical for
the terroir vest of the village "les Lauze" leading the higher areas
of the commune
The name of the village is from the latin word tavellis meaning stone
table
At a point of view Table de Information you see this
painted limestone. Note the figur in three colors. The blue color symbolize
limstones,
the brown color to the norths is for the water rounded stones (famous for
Chateaunef du Pape) and the yellow the sandy soil..
If you continue trugh Tavel by Route de Commanderie (D4) you will
find yourself surrounded only by vines without habitaton. The road become Route
de Cavaillargues.
If you want to visit Table de Information turn
left about 600 m after Tavel by a sign and you will after 1,6 km reach the
table where the vineyards meet scrubland.
Caveau Saint Vincent Caveau at Rue Frédéric Mistral sell wines from 25-30 producers of Tavel. It´s not possible to find detailed information on the Internet |

Auberge
de Tavel are probably the best restaurant in the village. I
was former a class room at the local school
Couleur Tavel
This event
yearly takes place in July (6th edition in 2018) in an area by Rue de la
Combe where you find the Lavoir and Jardins de Tavel.
