The first vines of the domain's holdings of Vacqueyras were planted by
Pierre Marseille's father Rémy Marseille in 1959 on 10 ha belonging to his
father. He added later 11 ha of Vacquyeras.
When Rémy Marseille died by an accident the just then phamaceutical educated
Pierre Marseille took over the inheritance in 1981. He has since purchased an
other domain Domaine de la Vervine with 25 ha in IGP-area planted with
Merlot, Cinsault, Mourvèdre, Cabernet-Sauvignon, Caladoc, Marselan and Alicante
grapesfor red and rosé wines, and Viognier, Chardonnay, Sauvignon and Muscat
à petits grains grapes for white wines.
The domain covers today 58 ha of which Pierre's father's 21 ha of Vacqueyras is
base for the most interesting wines from the estate.
In
2021 the domaine was handed over to
Pierre Marseille's grandchildren Anne-Sophie Marseille and
Matthieu Rafinesque.
Agriculture biologique expeted in 2024
4 hectares of the Vacqueyras vineyards bought by Rémy Marseille were situated
by Chateau
de Tourreau.
The mainbuilding of this place was not a part of the purchase but by the chateau
was a tall building former used a for production of silk from cocoons of
silkworms. In this building Pierre Marseille had his first cellar. From here the
name of his compagny "EARL de Tourreau" and the names of his best cuvées
of Vacqueyras.
