The first generation of the Polish family Chudzikiewicz arrived to Rhone in around
1900. A son from the
family married a daughter from Amouriers in Vacqueyras and since then the Chudzikiewicz
family have been owner of the domain.
Jocelyn Chudzikiewicz who was an educated oenolog took over from his father in 1979
and ran the place until 1997 when he was tragically killed in a trafic
accident. His son Igor was at that time only 15 years old. Patrick Gras who worked in the cellars
together with Jocelyn Chudzikiewicz then
managed the domain until Igor in 2008 had finished his oeological education and
spent som time at wineries in South Afraca and Australia.
Today Igor and Patrick run the domain together.
The name of the domain "Amouriers" is the provencal word for "mûrier"
= mulberry, referring to the trees growing in the fields of the domain at the
time when silk was an important source of income in the area.
The domain covers 30 ha in the appellations Vacqueyras and
IGP du Vaucluse.
Since 2014 the vineyards are certified agriculture biologique.
The wines are aged in cement tanks for a period of up to 18 months, except
two cuvées which are aged in barrels.
