The
Bernard family has been present on the property since 1896. The fields
have had changing main crops from mulberry trees (silkworms) over the
nursery, pépinière,
developed by the grandfather and the father of Philippe,
to
actual wine production - made possible by the purchase of 17 ha
of
vineyards
in 1997 mainly in Vacqueyras.
Philippe Bernard took over the property from his
parents in 2008. He finished his wine education BTS at the wine school in Beaune in 1999
and then worked at domains in Burgundy and in Rhone.
Hans first vintage with the name Ligière was 2008 Vacqueyras and for wines from other appellations vintage
2010 when a new cellar had been established.
The domain covers a total of 22,5 ha of vineyards, 0,5 ha
Gigondas, 18,5 ha Vacqueyras, 2 ha Beaumes de Venise and 1,5 ha Muscat
de Beaumes de Venise.
The vineyards of Vacqueyras has been certified agriculture biologique
since 2011 / 2012.
