In 1973 the property then
called Domaine de Notre Dame des Anges was bought by an Englishman Malcolm Swan.
A Kilkenny businessman Gay
McGuinness came for the first time to the domaine in 1984. He was in the transport business and had
dealings with Mr. Swan:
"The vineyard was under-capitalised and my then partner and I, having
seen the place, decided to become involved in it," says McGuinness.
"Steadily from that point on, our involvement grew more and more until,
ultimately, we bought the vineyard out around 1986 or 1987. Then around 1990 I
bought my partner out."
Ciaran Rooney a Dubliner
