The place was purchased
by the Dutch couple Deiters-Kommer
in 1996. At the time of the purchase the fields
were run by Perrin et Fils (Beaucastel) and the wine was used in this
firms Ventoux La Vieille Ferme.
Deiters-Kommer
wanted to control the 13 hectares of vineyards himself and create his own label.
The
vineyards were in a state of disorder and a restoration was needed. This
process is still going on.
With the words from Deiters-Kommer:
"The
vinification was done by "cave de serre" till 2007, sur
façon, after closure of this cave I joined the Cave Cooperative de
Beaumes de Venise as "cooperateur" maintaining the Chateau
Talaud identity and wines.
We
will maintain different cuves with our own label and some cuves with the
cave cooperative identity label.
We
are closely involved in the wine making process and in the assemblage,
the cave keeps a stringent quality level on the exploitation of the
vineyard, as well as a compulsory handpicking of the grapes."
The
website of Chateau Talaud is so far not telling about the wines but
about quite another big project of the family, "a
high end Bed and Breakfast".
