William de Courten's
mother Aline Courten run for a number of years the property Domaine Le Vieux Calcernier. She had
for some years help from her two sons Comte Christophe
and William and decided in
2014 to let the two sons share the
10 hectares of Chateauneuf du Pape belonging to
the domain. William's part was 4,5 ha.
Williams
1st vintage
2015, was made in the family's renovated cellar at Chemin du Bois de la Ville
and stored here in an underground machine house.
The two brothers have since
decided that they both will have
their own cellar.
Well, there is only a wall between their cellars but the door is seriously
bloched!
William and his family lives in a
historic old building at 30, Rue Joseph Ducos where you will meet his
English-speaking wife Nadine presenting the wines.
Wines
Chateauneuf du Pape
2017: Grenache, Mourvedre, Syrah.
2/3 matured in cuve, 1/3 in new or 2-3-years-old barriques for 14 months
Chateauneuf du Pape Notes d'Aline
2015: 60% Grenache, 40% Cinsault.
A part is aged in barriques for 18 months
Chateauneuf du Pape La Fortune du Pot
2016: 60% Grenache and 40% Mourvedre.
Aged in barrels.
Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc
2019: Equal shares of Grenache Blanc, Clairette and Roussanne.
