The Plantevin family have been farmers in the
area for more than 150 years.
It was the sixth generation Laurent Plantevin's father
who planted vines at all the 25 ha. selling the grapes to the
local cooperative. At this estate Laurent was born and grew up
and today he lives here together with his Japanese wife Akiko.
Some years ago his father bought a big and old mansion in
Violès together with 5 ha of vines. The buildings had fallen
into some disrepare but are now restored and Laurent's parents live
here and offer several gîtes for turists.
In 2007 when Laurent had finished his education (BTS
in acriculture in Macon and oenologic and viticulture at Lycée
Viticole d'Orange) his father let him have a part of the
vineyards and he started to make and bottle wines with the name
Maison Plantevin
As there were no cellar he started
to make wines in the corner of his father's hangar where the
machines used in the vineyards were stored.
The barn was not an ideal space to make that amount of wines end
therefore he planned to build a new cellar as quick as possible,
not by his home as it would be difficult for trucks to get the
wines there but at a more convinient place near the main road situated at D7 near Roaix.
Something went wrong in the building process resulting in a
legal economic dispute between Laurent Plantevin and the
entrepenuers but in 2018 the new cellar are finished and ready
to the harvest in 2018.
The domain covers some 30 ha. 1,5 ha of Rasteau 8 ha of Seguret,
12 ha of Sablet, 5 ha of Plan de Dieu, 1 ha of Roaix and 4 ha of Cotes du
Rhone.
Since 2013 the vineyards have been certified agriculture biologique.
