SHORT NEWS
February 2010
In Danish

This section on my site is new. For some years that kind of different small subjects have been published only in the Danish section.
In this section in English you will only find a part of what is mentioned  in the Danish edition.

.
Michel Blanc from the federation in Chateauneuf du Pape is always able to spot the nice ladies from the appellation when the wines from the appellation are promoted: Here from Vinisud 2010. Sorry that I don't know all the names. Maybe someone can help.

Decanter-panel - Blind tasting of 205 Chateauneuf du Pape 2007

I must admit that the result coming out of the tasting by the English gentlemen in the panel was quite surprising to me.
I know very well that a "big" Chateauneuf du Pape might be hard stuff if you have to taste more than 100 at one day. The tasters seem to have been overwhelmed by the task.

You can't avoid to compare with what the Americans have learnt from Robert Parker.

I do not want to be the judge to tell who is right but as an amateur who loves the wines from Chateauneuf du Pape - also the young ones - I will declare without reservation that in this case my vote will go to Parker.

I know well that blind tasting can bring surprising results. If I was one of those participating in this one I would lose all my self-confidence. I think I would close my site!

A couple of results to illustrate the result for wines from four domains:

Domaine du Vieux Telegraphe Telegramme 16,2 -  La Crau 13,25
Domine la Barroche: Signature 17 - Pure 14
Chateau Gigonan: Vigne du Regent 18,83 - Clos du Roi 13,67
Domaine de la Charbonniere: Tradition 16,2 - Vieilles Vignes 14,33

I would like to see how the tasters at Decanter would judge the wines in 10 years.

I would also like to se how John Livingstone Learmonth who brings the article in Decanter would judge the wines himself.
